The Trouble with Moving into the City

By admin | October 15, 2011

While many prosperous do-it-yourself types would as soon live on the street as hire a moving company, there are distinct advantages to having professional help while making the big move. If you are planning to go live under the skyscrapers, consider hiring New York, Los Angles, or Chicago Company.

Many of these outfits operate exclusively within their home city and there is a reason why. The city presents distinct and unusual challenges for those attempting to get in or out with a large volume of stuff. Firstly, your car isn’t going to be big enough to get all of what you need to take to your new apartment or condo. One car isn’t even enough for college students moving to live into half a broom closet. You will need more room and a trailer provided by a dedicated company will seem really nice when you start to pack.

Secondly, if you move into the city you have to deal with space. There is barely enough room for one more compact car most of the time and even if you have your own dedicated spot it will likely be well away from your actual space. A Chicago moving company knows the streets and can maneuver a large truck or trailer to be in the best position, often making use of loading zones that a single mover in a van cannot (under punishment of a swift ticket). Moving professionals will also be prepared to drive in City traffic, something a normal civilian should hesitate to try with a trailer strapped on behind.

And that trailer you borrow from your Uncle Stan will need to get back somehow. Why burden your family or worse, take a full day to drive back across the state line to wherever you came from when a company can simply take it away after you are done and leave you to nest in your little big city hideaway.
